In the latest edition of Circusmagazine, our artistic coordinator Dré Demet lays it all bare—figuratively speaking—as he discusses the financial implications of organizing such a large circus festival. "Essentially, you're building a whole cultural center in a place where nothing exists, for a few days. That has a huge budgetary impact."

With just under half a year to go until MAD 2025, Dré has spent the past months deep in financial tables to ensure that the third edition is both an artistic and financial success. He did however find the time to talk with Circusmagazine about how that process went for the 2024 festival edition.

"The cost difference compared to performances in a venue, where you can rely on an established infrastructure and team, is enormous", he admits. "But we believe it's very important to engage public spaces and create opportunities for encounters."
