Ballroom

Post uit Hessdalen

Day in day out, year in year out, Somebody Somewhere has to put the same balls into the same bin, even though nobody really knows why. To avoid the walls closing in on him, Somebody starts throwing balls at them. He lets the balls follow an ever growing trajectory through the air, sometimes graceful and deceptively simple, sometimes powerful and complex. If all goes well, they end up in the bin in the end.

But not all goes well all the time. And how much of that can Somebody bear? As the balls become ballast, Somebody Somewhere tries to discern a new dimension in time and space - or is it in his own head? - to escape the colourless monotony. And when he succeeds, some kind of magic arises.

Ballroom plays in a converted truck, where visual artist Lodewijk Heylen built concrete scenery. Thanks to a lot of practice and maybe a tiny bit of magic, juggler Stijn Grupping creates an incredible dance of bouncing balls. Accompanied by the soundscape of musicians Jochem Baelus en Frederik Meulyzer he takes you along on a wordless trip full of wonder.
