Frederik Meulyzer & Prisca-Agnes Nishimwe
A musical encounter between percussion and voice, exploring the boundless character of sound.
Frederik Meulyzer (°1983) studied percussion at the Antwerp Conservatoire and the Lemmens Institute in Leuven and specializes in jazz. He has won several prizes, including an award for best soloist at Jazz XL in 2008. His band Hamster Axis of the One-Click Panther is an outlier in the Belgian jazz scene. He also composes music for performing-arts, among others for Post uit Hessdalen, and with his group Stray Dogs.
Prisca-Agnes Nishimwe (°1991) is a vocal and spoken word artist. She studied at the Jazzstudio in Antwerp and has appeared in diverse projects such as Nuit Blanche, e-c-h-e-l-o-n, STILLL, Word Wa(a)r, Mama's Open Mic, Arsenaal/Lazarus, Nieuwstedelijk, Nuff Said, Natuurpunt, Vonk & Zonen, Jeroen Perceval, Gregory Frateur, Zino Moons, Coely, and more. With Isabel Fredeus, she is currently exploring relations between theater, music, and visual arts under guidance of detheatermaker. In 2025, she will be appearing in Fatilou M, a theater production by MartHa!tentatief and hetpaleis.
